I burst out laughing as I remembered a forgotten memory of my little brother. We had an ant infestation ounce, and couldn't fathom where they were coming from. Until one day, we saw my brother in the corner feeding them some bread and sugar. The same brother who doesn't like to share his toys was sharing his food with the ants! Ants are truly a marvel, I don't blame my brother for feeding them.

This is such a great story all its own, a piece of writing waiting, if not already written. Yes, ants are a marvel, perhaps more a marvel than was felt about siblings.

I loved the marvelling at this tiny ant's perspective - and also wondered where his friends and relatives were. I enjoyed being reminded to pause and see more of what's going on at the microlevel around me

Thank you, Issy. Well now - the friends and relatives show up every so often, usually letting me see them once they have reached the center of a counter or table but not showing me the route. They are creatures of mystery! I have also had the pleasure of ladybugs in my kitchen, very fast walkers on their tiny legs and when they get tired of walking they simply spread their wings and fly. Oh, to be like a ladybug!

What a window you opened with this! I love it. Have marveled myself at the industriousness and tenacity of ants.

Thank you, Melina. I can imagine that we'd be struck by the same things, grateful. Here's to ants!

I love this intense, micro observation/absorption, Dawn. Seems like that little ant was on a quest - do I sense the makings of a children’s story to accompany Two Bad Ants?

Thank you, Emma. Yes, that little ant absolutely was! I read that there is a signal the queen sends that directs the ants that are carrying the treasures. Ah...a sequel? I'll see what my imagination thinks of that!
